Arthur & The Whispers

Paying tribute to the 60’s Polynesian and Tiki inspired sounds of artists like Les Baxter and Arthur Lyman, Arthur & The Whispers seamlessly blend modern day songs with a vibraphone and tiki twist. Created in collaboration with Jonathan Palmquist (Santa Barbara Master Chorale) each song is carefully charted, using classical structures to mix with a looser, tropical flare. Whether they are performing as a trio (vibraphone, upright bass, percussion) or pairing down to a solo vibraphone performance, the group is ideal for the more mellow, thoughtful times at a party, just as the sun starts to set and the cocktails are being stirred. With a visual image that subtly nods to the great Tiki bar’s of the 50’s and 60’s, the players conjure up a timeless, forgotten era, while still rooting their look and feel in the present day.
